Social networking sites are great for keeping in touch with friends, but when the wrong people get a hold of too much personal information, bad things happen. But, as some of these stories show, may crimes occur even among people who have "friended" people they know.
"Facebook crime wave hits 100,000 in last five years"
In the United Kingdom, more than 100,000 crimes have occurred since 2006 because of Facebook. Compare that to just 1,411 calls about Facebook-related crimes in all of 2005. Crimes range from sexual offenses to hate crimes to cyberbullying.

Most cases of it are from Social networking-Facebook Twitter or it comes from mobile phones texting and also gets people bullied and abused. Most people are sending sexully explicit photos to only to find them going all over (sexting).

A survey recently conducted a the university of Maryland showed that people who are addicted to social media and give it up go through withdrawal systems similar to people going through alcohol or drug withdrawal.

Rutgers Tragedy and Facebook
Following the tragic suicide of Rutgers student Tyler Clementi in September, Rutgers University identified who caused him to do this. Another student, Dharun Ravi, caught Tyler in a sexual encounter with another man and then posted the broadcast over Facebook. He now faces 14 years in prison.
